hurry up's always on the run...

hi there - long lost blogger here. can't believe how longs it's been...everytime i sit down to blog, all of my thoughts just disappear lol. anyway, thought i'd drop a quick line to let u know what i've been up to...working on booga bag #12 (i know, i know...i need to expand my horizons and learn to make something new...i just like the comfort of knowing i can make a whole something and not have to ask for help at all lol)...finished the bag but need to finish the icord and felt it all so i can give it to my mother in law for her birthday on wednesday. also working on a scarf using homespun and fun fur that she picked out months ago...will put that in the finished bag and surprise her by not making her wait until it gets cold to get the scarf done lol. let's see...what else...need to start and finish a baby booga for my niece's 6th bday on 9/10. i'm super excited because after this coming work week, i will be off for two whole weeks!!! i plan on knitting and reading and checking out things around cleveland that i haven't had time to check out before during the first week and then the second week jason and i might try to take a lil trip, although we are stumped as to where to go and what to do...low on funds, so we'll be driving somewhere and plan to stay no more than 2 nights...any suggestions?
ok, that's all for now...hope the rest of you are having a great weekend!

and in other news...

Ok, so I don't have much to report on the knitting front...finished (mostly - just need to bind off) my 10th booga bag tonight at Stitch 'n Bitch and will felt and cut top to attach wooden handles after payday on Thursday (still need to buy the handles, obviously). I sure hope it's ok to cut felted wool...the girls at S'nB said it was, but I could use some reassurance on that one...

Unfortunately, I have some bad news to report and would like to ask any readers out there to keep my grandma in your thoughts and prayers... About a month ago, she found out that she has colon cancer. They scheduled surgery for the end of last month and then found that she has Stage IV Colon Cancer that has spread to just about everywhere in that region except for her liver. They sent her home after surgery and told the family that they'd probably start chemotherapy when she's recovered. Yesterday was her 2 wk appointment and they told her that not only does she have stage 4 colon cancer, but that she also has ovarian cancer. They said they'd see her in another two weeks to schedule the chemo. This is hitting the family pretty hard, and I'm really feeling it as I've already lost one grandma to cancer (2 yrs ago). Anyway, today's been a rough day for me and thankfully my friends at S'nB were able to cheer me up, but I'm feeling very down right now, so I just ask that you keep her and my family in your thoughts/prayers. Thanks in advance.

Ok, now this post feels sad, so I'm sorry if I've bummed anyone out :( I promise I will try to make my next entry more upbeat.

PS - On the stix...another booga bag, another about to be started (for gifts) and a chemo cap to donate for people who've lost their hair due to chemotherapy. I'd also like to knit grandma a lap-quilt to keep her warm as I hear you can get cold during the treatments...better get knittin' if I want to get it done in the next couple weeks along w/ all of the bday presents that also need to be done. Wish me luck.

no g'news is good g'news? ;)

hi all - just a quickie to show that i'm attempting to keep this thing as current as possible. started a new booga for my mother-in-law's 8/31 bday and felted the one i made for my sister, who's celebrating her 21st today! one of these days i will figure out how to post pics and show u what i ramble on about :) until then, just trust that they are purdy lol
other than that, it's been a busy weekend, so no time so far for knitting -- sad, i know :(
hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and i'll see ya sometime next week!

non-knitted accomplishments

ok, first i will tell you the knitted accomplishment(s)...finished the icord for my purpley-green noro booga and almost done w/ the icord for my sister's b-day black and hot pink booga...will finish when i'm done typing and felt both of them tomorrow afternoon when i get home from an early leave at work to get ready for "twilight at the zoo" aka lollapalzoooooola (creatively and drunkenly named by chrissie at the annual charity event a few years back).

on to the non-knitted victories for the day...back on track w/ counting points on weight watchers (need to lose 50lbs and i'm hoping that the motivation switch is turned on for good this time), walked 1 mile with hubby and neighbor to get hubby's dinner of a yummy quizno's sub and got myself a diet pop after having some crab meat, a fruit cup and a banana for my healthy dinner and basically acheived a generally happy and self-satisified mood for the first in a long long time. now, let's just see how long i can make that last, shall we? ;)

hope everyone in this hot cleveland oh climate is staying cool and the rest of you should know that i'm very very jealous of your more moderate temps! lookin' forward to a much decreased hi of 82 degrees tomorrow, if that tells you anything lol.

take care and thanks for stopping by for my not-so-knitty ramblings :)

long lost blogger

ok, so i wouldn't blame anyone who has stopped checking this blog since it's been soooooooo long since i posted. however, if, by some crazy slim chance, there is someone checking this, i am going to post and try to post more often in the future...on my honor, i will try...

been super busy this summer, as usual, and have still somehow found time to knit. actually, i do know how i've found time...all i have to do is take a look at my messy house to find my answer lol.

here's what i've finished...

-the pink fuzzy blanket for baby hope, who comes "home" to the USA from Russia next weekend!!
-2 completed felted booga bags
-6 potholders/hot pads for grandparents' xmas presents
-2 4x4 squares for the nike quilt (can't find the link for this, but i know it has something to do w/ unfair labor)
-6 6x6 squares for a special "crazy quilt" made by Cleveland's West Side Stitch N Bitch

here's what's on the sticks currently...
-scarf for mother in law w/ fun fur and homespun that she bought for this purpose
-2 icords for 2 more finished booga bags that just need to be felted
-another potholder/hotpad w/ yarn to make about 8 more in pretty xmas and patriotic colors...using super bulky yarn so they are nice and thick
-belt made of ribbon-yarn...in my desk at work and hasn't been touched in a couple months
-scarf for myself, also in my desk and not being touched lol

found a pattern for a sweater that i'd like to tackle in the upcoming months...it's made w/ very bulky yarn and size 36 needles...no, that isn't a typo lol! it also has cables, so it will definitely be a challenge for me!

i have enough wool to make several more felted bags, so maybe i'll attempt a new pattern, altho the booga bag is just fine w/ me (can u tell i'm nervous to try new things on my own lol).

aside from knitting, not much exciting going on. been home from work for the past three days w/ muscle cramps & spasms in my back...happens a couple times a year and there really isn't much i can do for it other than take it easy and pop some muscle relaxors. feeling much better today, so i'm sure i'll be back to work tomorrow.

well, that's all for now. oh, and please keep my grandmother in your prayers/thoughts as she has just been diagnosed w/ metastatic colon cancer and is in stage 4. she will start chemo soon and we are all taking this sudden illness (just found the cancer 3 weeks ago...never sick at all from it) very hard. thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers.
