procrastination time!

another late-night post for me...i'm supposed to be knitting a scarf for a last-minute birthday gift for a friend and instead, i find myself munching on some oreo crisps (one of those 100 cal packs...mmm!) and checking out some blogs.

super cool site alert... http://www.adagio.com/ it's a site to purchase different kinds of tea online. i will definitely be placing an order through this site sometime this fall/winter. i'm a huge fan of tea and tend to drink TONS during the colder months, so this site is a very cool find for me :)

ok, back to knitting. it's gonna be a long night...sure hope i can get up for work in the morning! later, tators!

title, title...who's got the title?

Not feeling so creative in the Title Dept. tonight, but the above is a modified stolen quote...the first person who can tell me the real line and what it's from gets some random yarn from my ever-growning stash :)

So I haven't been too into knitting in the last two weeks, mostly because I've been on vacation. However, I also think it's because I'm working on a new dishcloth and I think I may have messed up the pattern, so I don't want to move forward because I'm afraid it will look bad and I don't want to frog it because maybe I didn't really mess it up or won't look too bad and then I will have wasted all that time knitting and unknitting...such a dilema lol

However, I finally attended my Stitch 'n Bitch group again tonight and feel totally inspired and ready to knit knit knit! I had originally planned on making myself an irish sweater for St. Pat's Day 2006 (as a knitting goal, since I think a sweater is way too advanced for me at this point), but now I've changed my mind, thanks to my knitting chica, Jill (she rocks!!). She's inspired me to make my first-ever poncho from this cool Lion Brand pattern using thick & quick yarn in the same color as a traditional irish sweater. That way, if it's not too cold on 3/17/06, I can still wear it, plus, I'll be able to wear a green shirt underneath to be super-festive :)

So tonight I started to finish the lil booga for my niece's 6th birthday present as well knitted about 8 inches of a scarf that's part of a "Knitting Circle" setup with about 10 people from one of the knitting message boards on myspace.com (each of us are starting a scarf and will mail them to each person on the list to add on and then eventually, the scarf that we started will be sent back to us, finished up w/ lots of different yarn and stitches...I love this idea and hope everyone on the list participates so they go full-circle). Anyway, point being that I'm back in the saddle again and don't know how I will ever put the knitting down to read the books that I'm trying to read, find time to blog or even go to work lol ;)

Ok, now that I have to get up in a few hours, I think I will end this. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

PS - I'm so excited...just got an email from my SP6!! This is so fun and I already can't wait to find out who has me, not to mention that I can't wait to get to know the person I have so I can figure out what to spoil her with! :)

PPS - Yippee - it's fall (or almost at least)...my absolute favorite season! I love everything about it (except that winter comes after it), including crunchy leaves on the sidewalk, wearing jeans and hoodies everyday, pumpkin scented candles being sold everywhere, Halloween Halloween Halloween (did I mention Halloween?)...woohoo! :)))

missing sp6 question

ok, so i was just reading someone else's sp6 questionaire answers and realized that i think the one i copied to use for mine was misisng the last question, so just in case, here it is...

30. What are your foot measurements, and what kind of socks do you like? I have big feet (hey, I'm a tall girl, so I'd look silly w/ small feet, right? lol)...size 10 shoes. I LOVE SOCKS!! I have a huge sock wardrobe containing everything from plain jane to crazy mazy :)

By the way...someone else asked me what SP6 is, so I thought I'd post the link, in case anyone else who reads this is unaware of the group. Basically, you get paired up w/ someone else who is participating (the deadline has passed, but if you are still interested, you might be able to contact the coordinators to see if they need someone in case someone else backed out at the last minute) and for three months, this person is your anonymous friend who you get to spoil w/ goodies :) Anyway, here's the link in case you want to find out more (and if you go to the August 2005 archives, you'll find the post telling you everything you ever wanted to know about sp!)...

Secret Pal 6 Question and Answer

The Secret Pal Questionnaire....for whomever you are...

Here's all you ever wanted to know about me, but were afraid to ask:

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you? I'm an equal opportunity yarn user :)

2. Do you spin? Crochet? No and no, but I did try to crochet...just couldn't get the tension right I guess.

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.) What am I not allergic to would be a better question lol -- no fibers really bother me too much (other than wool being itchy, but that's normally) and even though I'm allergic to animals, I still have a dog (my pug-daughter Guinness, the love of our lives!) that I take meds for to keep the allergies at bay. Don't like smoke and love perfumes...Curve Crush and Victoria's Secret Pink are my current faves :)

4. How long have you been knitting? Learned to knit in Nov. 2004, so not quite a year.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Yes, I have one on Amazon.

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) Not too fond of flowery scents...more of a fruity, vanilla, sweets girl. Love candles!!

7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Looooooovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee chocolate...dark, milk, white...I love it all! Also a big fan of candy in general :)

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Have done many different crafts in my day, but definitely more hooked on knitting than anything else right now.

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I like most music, other than hardcore rap and gospel. I do have an MP3 player (Creative Micro Zen...not an iPod).

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand? Favorite colors are purple, green, pink and aqua. Don't really dislike any colors.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? Married w/ one daughter -- our pug, Guinness :)

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know) Wow - that's a big one. I guess just to be happy in my own skin (kinda hard for me sometimes).

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? Well, since I'm kinda new to the craft, I don't really have a favorite, although I'm very fond of Lamb's Pride and Homespun, and novelty yarns from JoAnn Fabrics for fun scarves. I'm broadening my horizons, so I am pretty much happy with anything at this point.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? Nothing comes to mind so I guess I don't dislike any right now.

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s? Well, I've just recently learned to read patterns, so I think that will be a new obsession, but I love finding freebies online.

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? I love knitting felted bags -- have made about 12 or 13 booga bags...my friends say I need to broaden my horizons, so I'm trying to stay away from those for awhile :) Currently I'm loving learning new stitches and how to read new patterns by knitting dishclothes. Gotta love the cheap cotton yarn and a book full of patterns to try :)

17. What are you knitting right now? Dishclothes for the Katrina victims, a couple scarves for xmas gifts and also some booga bags for some bday gifts.

18. What do you think about ponchos? Have never worn one but would like to try my hand at knitting them as a friend just finished one from a really cool and simple pattern. I think it might be a new fun thing to make for myself for winter.

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Love my Denise circs, but I have lots of straights, too.

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? Like I said, the Denise ones are great (plastic, I guess, right?), but I prefer aluminum.

21. Are you a sock knitter? Not yet.

22. How did you learn to knit? A bunch of us learned together during lunches at work to make blankets to donate to a Children's Hospital. The addiction has taken over from there :)

23. How old is your oldest UFO? Ok, I'm embarrassed...could someone please tell me what this means?

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird? Favorite animal is the pug, hands down!

25. What is your favorite holiday? Definitely Halloween!!

26. Is there anything that you collect? I have lots of collections including knitting needles and yarn (of course lol), pug stuff (including pug cards) frogs, wine & martini glasses and wine charms, lip smackers and glosses, nail polish (any colors) and purses of all shapes and sizes :)

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? None right now :(

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on? Also, none right now. Have lots that I need to find time to read and since I'm new to reading patterns for knitting, there are no specific ones on my list right now.

29. Any patterns you have been coveting, but haven't bought for one reason or another?? See #28.

You asked for it, you got it. More than you wanted, huh?

knitting for a cause

hi all - just another quickie as i've been super busy lately. my parents just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with another wedding and reception that was way bigger and better than the first! they renewed their vows in front of 200 of their closest friends and family and had a huge reception. it was amazing and i'm in awe over the love that they still share after all of these years! anyway, the preparation for this huge event has left very little time for knitting, much less blogging lately. however, i have set aside all of my current projects to work on some handknit dishcloths for the katrina victims. here's the link for the yahoo group that has been setup to coordinate this effort... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/clothsforkatrina/ take a look and see if you'd like to help out.
that's all for now...hope all is well and i'll be in touch soon w/ my secret pal 6 survey as we should be receiving our matches soon! :))) yay - can't wait to get started on this fun event as it will be my first!
