quite possibly the longest week yet...
why is it that when u have a monday off, the rest of the week seems to drag on and on and on?! this week just wouldn't end, i swear! and then....wooooooohooooooo - finally friday....thought it'd never come!
so, weekend plans? tonight - nothing. tomorrow - baby shower during the day and girls night out at night w/ my sis melissa. sunday - nothing. sounds like a good weekend to me!
speaking of my sis - i finally finished her xmas gift and gave it to her over the weekend, but of course forgot to take a pic of the finished product - doh! i'm sure i can still get one eventually, but it's a black and grey striped scarf made w/ double-strands of homespun and made super long, per her request...it's like the warmest thing ever!
and the other sis (samantha) finally got her xmas gift, too, even though it's been done since 1/31/06, as promised ;) i also do not have a great pic of that, but will be getting one the next time i see her, so this isn't the last you'll hear of those projects, rest assured :) by the way, in case i didn't mention it before, samantha received the wavy scarf from knitty...my toughest and most satisfying project yet!
ok, guess that's all i have to say. definitely planning on having a lil red wine this evening to celebrate the survival of the week...hope everyone have a fantastic weekend!

Mini-break or bust!
Just a quickie to say that I am heading out of town for the weekend for a much needed mini-break! Every year since before I was in highschool, my family has been going to the Potawatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park in Indiana to stay for President's Day weekend. We basically spend the entire weekend in pj pants, playing games, knitting, eating and hanging out, relaxing the winter blues away. They do have a 1/4 mi toboggan run, a lake for ice skating (when it's frozen), cross country skiing, plenty of hiking and other outdoor fun stuff, but by the time the middle of Feb. comes around, I'm just ready to relax and stay inside, so I haven't done that other stuff in years lol. I'm soooooooooo looking forward to this...you have no idea! Hopefully I won't be lazy w/ the camera so I can post some fun pics when I get back. Hope everyone has a great weekend and good luck to my knitting olympians...can't wait to see some more progress shots!!

oh poo - i'm jealous!!
ok, so i didn't sign up for the knitting olympics because #1 i was afraid i wouldn't pick something that would challenge me since i like to have my hand held thru all new projects and #2 i'm still on a deadline for an xmas gift for my sis (very understanding, sis, i might add...gave me until next weekend to get her scarf done that she already knows about). but now i'm all jealous cuz i know everyone is making really great things and it just seems like a fun thing to do!
anyway, have fun all u olympians and keep up the bloggin' and pic postin' so i can live vicariously through u :)
for now... knitwitgirly, out!

i know...holy new posts, batman
but i just wanted to post one more pic of my scarf from the circle cuz cutie-pie guinness is in it. she was sniffing the new scarf and she looked over just as i snapped the pic (plus you can see some of the other squares on the scarf that were hidden when wrapped around my neck)...

scroll down for several new posts in one day...i'm out of control!

i've done the needles, now for the yarn...

You are Mohair.
You are a warm and fuzzy type who works well with
others, doing your share without being too
weighty. You can be stubborn and absolutely
refuse to change your position once it is
set, but that's okay since you are good at
covering up your mistakes.
What kind of yarn are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
knitted goodness circling around...
i've been involved in a couple "scarf circles" over the last few months and i just got my first one back...
basically, you and 10 other people across the country start one 6-8" section of a scarf that will eventually come back to you after the other nine people have added a section. you can include a note w/ your scarf telling people about what you like, but basically you can knit whatever you want on the pieces that you get. it's a fun way to learn new stitches and see the amazing work that other knitters can do, as well as a good way to bust your stash of yarn bits. the scarf can end up lookin' funky and perfect to wear to your local knitting group meeting (as i did when this pic was taken the other night) or it can end up actually all matching and look really sweet, as many of the current circles look...everyone is really trying to make the pieces go together nicely. i love this funky one and can't wait to see my next one! anyway, just wanted to share the pic cuz i'm so excited that i got one back! i'm waiting on another circle that started about a month ago, so when i get the next one, i'll post another pic.
ps - the group that i'm on where this was organized is on myspace.com under the groups and it's called "scarf circles". a couple people are organizing groups there now, so i'm sure there will be new ones
starting up if anyone is interested. here are some pics of other scarves that are circling around (i'm sure they won't mind that i share)...

what a lazy @$$ blogger!!
geesh - i'm so sorry it's been FOREVER since i've blogged about anything at all. almost a month w/ nothing...i deserve to be removed from everyone's list of favorites lol
anyway, i don't have too much time right now, but i promise that i will make an effort to start blogging more often.
i've been busy as usual, and still knitting away, but i guess just haven't felt like typing about it. i finished the hardest project i've ever done (picture soon, i promise)...i made the "wavy" scarf from knitty.com* for my lil sister for xmas and i promised that i would have it done by the end of january and i did! i'm so proud and so happy that i have such understanding family members to allow me to give them their gifts so late. hey...it was my first "knitted xmas"...cut me some slack for the poor planning on time to knit 23 projects lol!
gotta go get in the shower...hope u all have a great weekend and i promise that u'll be reading more from me in the future.
ps -- in other news, i started the south beach diet on 1/1 and have lost 16 of the 50 lbs that i've gained since my wedding...off to a good start, so i sure hope i can stick to it! so far the diet is pretty easy and i'm really not missing the things i can't have too much, so that's a plus. can't wait to become an even bigger loser! :)
*sorry...i'm clueless on the html thing so no links...melissa from http://sandiegoknitter.blogspirit.com/ tried to teach me once and i didn't quite get it lol...maybe i'll try to learn again soon
