Another awesomely nice knitter, folks!

I received another gift in the mail from a fellow knitter...
This is a picture of me (sorry for the self-taken bathroom mirror shot) wearing my new fabulous purple scarf from my knitting blog friend, Mark!

I've been following Mark's blog since he started it in the fall when he learned to knit so he could knit scarves for his family for xmas. He caught on quickly and I think he fell in love w/ the craft...I'm constantly amazed at his speed of knitting and the quality in the pictures always looked amazing.

He asked me a couple weeks ago if he could knit something for me and I said of course...I don't usually spend time knitting things for myself and definitely appreciate hand-knits, so it was exciting to have something made for me : )

Here's his post about the details of the scarf...the yarn that he used is super-soft and the weight of the scarf is nice and heavy...I absolutely love it!! When I pulled it out of the box, DH said "That has to be the nicest scarf you own!" which is awesome because I own LOTS of scarves. I think I have to agree w/ him...this is definitely a favorite and it is going to get TONS of use!!

Here's a pic of the scarf on the hood of a purple Dodge something-or-other w/ a hemi (Charger or something like that...I can't remember) at the Cleveland Auto Show that we went to Friday night. The car was the exact same shade of purple, so I tossed it on top and snapped the shot w/ my phone. When I picked the scarf back up, a man behind me had his camera out to take a pic of the car and said "Oh, I thought that was part of the display...it matches perfectly." lol

So a HUGE thank you to Mark for this gift...I am so excited about it and am telling everyone what wonderful people the knitters I've encountered along the way are.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! : )

Knitters are just the best people...ever!

First of all, I want to apologize to my fabulous knitting friends Jeanne, Keri and Jessica! I thought for sure I had posted about the chemo caps they made for my grandma right before Christmas, but now I can find it in my posts, so I guess I must not have posted it...I am so sorry for this insensitive overlook. Not only did the girls take the time to knit chemo caps for my grandma, but did so in the thick of the holiday knitting season!

Here are the pics...

And today I received a surprise in the mail from Keri...I've been admiring her handmade zippered pouches and was trying to think of some type of trade to offer her for one and today I received the most adorable zippered pouch w/ the cutest little hand-made note saying that it was made just for me and that she's been thinking about my grandma and I...how sweet is that?! Thank you so much, Keri...just another example of how wonderful knitters are! Here are a couple pics of the cute pouch and note...

Edited to add: And that incredibly cute quilt pictured under the pouch is one that my other grandma knitted for my Christmas gift this year...she made all of her grandchildren quilts and mine was one of her personal favorites...all of us girls are very supportive of breast cancer research and she chose this fabric with the pink ribbon just for me - and I love it!!

Thanks to grandma, Jeanne, Jessica and Keri! Hugs to you all xo

Trying the socks thing again...

Hey there blogsters - Sorry I've been so absent from the blogging world lately. With school and all of the stuff going on with my grandma, along with everything else in my crazy busy life, I haven't had the energy to post. I've been trying to keep up w/ everyone else's blogs and comment, but if I haven't visited yours lately, please forgive me. I use bloglines, so all of your new posts are saved and just waiting for my viewing time : )

I have a favor...I started knitting a pair of socks using the magic loop method months and months again and for some reason, the project lost steam. Since then, I have used DPN's (something you all know I feared in the past) for a few hats and have decided that I might like to start over on my socks using those instead. Soooo...I bought some prettier sock yarn (maybe that was part of my lack of interest...the sock yarn I chose before wasn't my fave) and some of the short US2 DPN's that my knitting friends have raved about. Now I just need a simple, well-written, easy to follow sock pattern...anyone? I'm using Sockotta yarn in color 5618 and I bought the size 2 dpn's, if that helps. I have size 10 (I know...enormous...but seriously...I'm 5'9"...I'd fall over if I had small feet lol) somewhat wide feet, in case that matters.

So I would love to know what beginner sock pattern that all of you sock knitters would suggest. Thanks in advance!!

Oh yeah, here's a pic of my girls in the snow last Wednesday while my DH spent 6 hours shoveling the drive so we could go to work the next day! And don't worry...the pups were only out for about 3 minutes...they aren't fans of the cold anymore than I am haha
