So many of you know that The Hubs and I got our first tattoos together awhile back (Sept ‘09)…
We had Ashlyn’s footprint from the hospital tattoo’d on the top of our foot (her left on our lefts) to symbolize our pride in how our lives have turned out together by showing that we would be proud to have our daughter follow in our footsteps. This is a big statement for us as we have both faced our fair share of criticism over some of the choices we’ve made over the years.
Of course, when we announced our pregnancy with Cooper, many asked if we are going to get his footprint done on our other foot. And our answer is YES! For me, this means pure excitement! For Jason? Not so much ;) See, this was our first tattoos, so we had no idea what to expect. I decided to go first and really, it just felt a little uncomfortable. I was chatting with Jason and Joel, our tattoo artist, the whole time and really was bothered very little by the pain. Jason, on the other hand, was SHOCKED when he took the chair second and felt a much greater amount of pain. I think he probably just has more nerve endings in his foot or something because it’s not like I have a high pain tolerance or anything. Anyway, this has him less than excited about getting a second done, but he’ll do it because how uncool would it be to have one of your kid’s footprint on you forever and not the other, just because you are afraid of a lil pain ;) So we had the hospital get some really good footprints of Cooper’s left foot and we can’t wait to go finish our statement!
This morning, Ashlyn pointed to my foot and said “footprint, mommy, footprint!”, so I told her about how that is her little foot and how we are going to get Cooper’s foot on the other side. She said “oh, nice” and then looked at Guinness (one of our pugs) and said “mommy.. guinness footprint”. Hmm…interesting thought, baby girl. Not quite the same statement, but interesting thought just the same :) And a quick google image search showed me that she wasn’t the first one to think of this…
I <3 it! :) Probably won’t ever do it, but I love it just the same :)

That is so cool...I've never heard of anyone doing that. I'm not a fan of tattoos, but I must say I like the idea :)
I love the whole "following in footsteps thing". good luck with the new tattoo... I am sad that the hospital never gave us a footprint when Quinlin was born. :(
Wow wow wow, gorgeous tattoos. Definitely have to get Cooper's as well. Can't do one and not the other. I want to design a tattoo to incorporate all 3 boys. (It would be my 4th tattoo). Just have to figure out how I want to do it.
I haven't stopped by in a while. Congrats to you - looks like life is going great! I love the tattoos - totally teared up when I saw them!
I'll bet you just have the higher pain tolerance. lol
That is an awesome idea. But if you have more than two kids what will you do?
